VMwareTray.exe shows the VMware Tools icon in the system notification area. VMwareTray.exe comes with the VMware Tools package, which often is installed in VMware virtual machines.

You can hide the VMware Tray icon by clicking on the tray icon, and deselecting "Show VMware Tools in the taskbar".
