WVPNstat.exe is a file installed to support mobile broadband internet connection using a Huawei modem.

The file most often lies in:
C:\Progran Files\Comviq Connect
(where "Comviq" is the ISP name. It can ve Telia, Orange, Tre, Vodafone or any other operator).

After modem installation a copy is also to be found in:
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch

Note that if you use weird WINDOWS installation directory names in an attempt to fool malware or virii then then that will be reflected in the prefetch directory. Mine is located in:
C:\WINDOZE\Prefetch

If you installed with the modem connected via a PCMCIA USB card then removal of the card can also cause VPNstat.exe to generate periodic errors with a window asking you to report the error to Microsoft.

If a later version of the mobile broadband connection program is installed (for example a new modem) then the old file may remain active and generate regular Windows errors, also asking you to submit the file to Microsoft.

Before installing a new mobile broadband modem:
1 - uninstall the old software via the control panel.
2 - manually delete C:\Progran Files\Comviq Connect directory and all its contents.
3 - Use RegCleaner, CC-Cleaner to remove references to the file.
4 - Delete the file from your Prefetch directory.
5 - Install the new software and drivers for the new modem.

These faults and remedies I have experienced on three different computers, all running WinXP SP3.

Best regards Harry
