Although all anti-virus programs did not report anything malicious about the SoftwareUpdater.Bootstrapper.exe file, I still think it looks suspicious. Legitimate software vendors generally use the version information to help the user to identify the vendor by providing a company name, or even URL where you can read more about the software. However, this file's version information contains only general info which makes it difficult to determine who developed it and how it ended up on a user's system.

For all of you who uses this web site, please let us know if you have more information about SoftwareUpdater.Bootstrapper.exe.

After the fact, I now think I know what the file "softwareupdater.bootstrapper.exe" was. My AVG virus program detected the program and wanted to delete it. Not knowing if AVG found a "good" program and wanted to delete it, I minimized it for a few days while I researched the program. It was about this time that I noticed a blue pop up menu that wanted to "update" my facebook page with some sort of protection. Thinking it a simple pop up, I would close it.
Finding no info on program in question I deleted it using AVG virus protector. After deletion, I noticed the blue pop up menu was also gone. Don't know if these are connected but both are now gone.
