The Citibank app which uses CitiVAN.exe does not work when the default browser is Google Chrome. It stopped working when Google made the decision to discontinue Adobe Flash on its browser on December 31, 2020.
At the time it made the decision, it changed the default from "Allow" to "Ask First". Unfortunately CitiVAN.exe does not have code to reply to "Ask First" and simply becomes inoperative. At this point the only option is to be logged on to the Citibank website to generate a virtual account number. This makes makes using virtual account numbers for online transactions incredibly inconvenient.
