Metal Maker - 40% Detection Rate *

Did you just run into a download or a file on your computer that has been digitally signed by Metal Maker? Some of the security products refers to the detected files as Trojan.Yontoo.1808 and Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT. The detection rate for the Metal Maker files collected here is 40%. Please read on for more details.

You will typically notice Metal Maker when running the file. The publisher name shows up as the "Verified publisher" in the UAC dialog as the screenshot shows:

You can view additional details from the Metal Maker certificate with the following procedure:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and locate the Metal Maker file
  2. Right-click the file and select Properties
  3. Click the Digital Signatures tab
  4. Click on the View Certificate button

As you can see in the screenshot above, the Windows OS states that "This digital signature is OK". This implies that the file has been published by Metal Maker and that no one has tampered with the file.

If you click the View Certificate button shown in the screenshot above, you can examine all the details of the certificate, such as when it was issued, who issued the certificate, how long it is valid, etc. You can also view the address for Metal Maker, such as the street name, city and country.
