Does this sound familiar? You see\u00a0pop-up ads<\/strong> from ant.coupmatchup.com<\/strong>\u00a0while browsing web sites that normally don’t advertise in pop-up windows. The pop-ups manage to bypass the built-in pop-up blockers in Google Chrome<\/strong>, Mozilla Firefox<\/strong> or Internet Explorer.<\/strong>\u00a0Perhaps the ant.coupmatchup.com\u00a0<\/strong>popups appear when clicking search results from\u00a0Google? Or does the pop-ups appear even when you’re not browsing?<\/p>\n

Those that have been reading this blog already know this, but here we go: Recently I dedicated a few of my lab machines and deliberately installed a few adware programs on them. I’ve been following the behaviour on these machines to see what kinds of different advertisements that are displayed. I’m also looking on other interesting things such as if the adware updates itself, or if it downloads and installs additional unwanted software on the machines. I first spotted the ant.coupmatchup.com\u00a0pop-up on one of these lab machines.<\/p>\n

So, how do you remove the ant.coupmatchup.com\u00a0pop-up ads<\/strong>? On the machine where I got the ant.coupmatchup.com\u00a0ads I had the\u00a0CheckMeUp adware<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0and the\u00a0TinyWallet adware<\/a>\u00a0installed. I removed these with FreeFixer<\/a> and that stopped the ant.coupmatchup.com\u00a0pop-ups and all the other ads I was getting in Firefox. CheckMeUp was the adware that caused the pop-ups in my case. I could see this since it was kind enough to label the pop-up ad with the adware name:<\/p>\n
