A connection that often appears is to\u00a0id.google.com when visiting the Google search engine. Sometimes you can see the status bar showing &#8220;<strong>Waiting for id.google.com<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.freefixer.com\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/id.google.com-waiting.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5445\" src=\"http:\/\/www.freefixer.com\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/id.google.com-waiting.png\" alt=\"id.google.com waiting\" width=\"180\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the id.google.com screenshot from the network log:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.freefixer.com\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/id.google.com-connection.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5444\" src=\"http:\/\/www.freefixer.com\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/id.google.com-connection.png\" alt=\"id.google.com connection\" width=\"851\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.freefixer.com\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/id.google.com-connection.png 851w, https:\/\/www.freefixer.com\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/id.google.com-connection-300x142.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 851px) 100vw, 851px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In some cases the request is for a .gif image:<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/id.google.com\/verify\/EAAAAJPGOkdVdwuY72Nn4-GBxGU.gif<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps it is a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Web_bug\">Web Bug<\/a>, but those are traditionally used by third parties.<\/p>\n<p>I have not found any reliable information about the purpose of these connections. Do you have some input on why these connections are triggered when searching at Google?<\/p>\n<p>The id subdomain seems to be available on each of Google&#8217;s top domains.
