I noticed that the majority has voted that they will remove the yahooauservice.exe file, but to me this looks like a legitimate file from Yahoo.

Why would you want to remove yahooauservice.exe?

After I install the latest version of YM (9.0.0.2164), I notice something when I used my web-cam, my viewers is 0 but my chat-mate can see my cam I don't know how that's happened but one thing I notice, I saw the yahooAUservice.exe on the process. I hope that its not the reason why that happens. I hope this is not a bug like on the earlier version of YM I think its ver.7 where someone can view your cam without your permision.

yahooauservice.exe on my machine uses in excess of 95% of CPU non-stop. It is the same size as you report. Worse yet, even after I use Remove Programs to try to uninstall the Yahoo updater, this program remains. Worst of all, when it is running, it completely defies the Windows KILL PROCESS function. It has essentially made my machine useless, and getting rid of it is my highest priority.

@Petti: How annoying that the process remained even after running the Add/Remove programs uninstaller :( If you like, you can give FreeFixer a try. It should be able to remove the yahooauservice.exe from your system. Please let us know if that solved the problem.

You can also disable the program by the following sequence, assuming you run Windows XP:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
2. Switch to classic view.
3. Double-click on Administrative Tools
4. Double-click on Services.
5. Locate the Yahoo Updater, and double-click it.
6. Choose Disabled in the Startup type drop-down.
7. Click OK
8. Restart your machine.

Did that solve your problem?

I disabled in Services menu. I disabled because I don't like processes running that I don't use.

I've noticed this running in my processes. Went to it's folder and it has an uninstaller with it. Uninstalled. I like to have as few processes running as possible.

YahooAUservice represents a bad practice - another one of those useless complications that installs and runs itself even when the Administrator is not logged in!
