ICS Setup - 20% Detection Rate *
Did you just run into a download or a file on your computer that is digitally signed by ICS Setup? Some of the security products refers to the detected files as Unwanted-Program ( 0040f8d01 ) and InstallCore.b (fs). The detection rate for the ICS Setup files collected here is 20%. Please read on for more details.
You will typically notice ICS Setup when clicking to run the file. The publisher name is displayed as the "Verified publisher" in the UAC dialog as the screengrab shows:
You can view the digital signature details for ICS Setup with the following procedure:
- Open up Windows Explorer and locate the ICS Setup file
- Right-click on the file and select Properties
- Click the Digital Signatures tab
- Click the View Certificate button
Here's a screenshot of a file signed by ICS Setup:
As you can see in the screenshot above, Windows reports that "This digital signature is OK". This means that the file has been published by ICS Setup and that no one has tampered with the file.
If you click the View Certificate button shown in the screencap above, you can examine all the details of the certificate, such as when it was issued, who issued the certificate, how long it is valid, etc. You can also see the address for ICS Setup, such as the street name, city and country.
COMODO Code Signing CA 2 has issued the ICS Setup certificates. You can also view the details of the issuer by clicking the View Certificate button shown in the screencap above.
