NEO People - 8% Detection Rate *
Did you just find a download or a file on your computer that is digitally signed by NEO People? Some of the security products refers to the detected files as not-a-virus:AdWare.Win32.EzSearch and PUP/Win32.EzSearch.R182104. The detection rate for the NEO People files collected here is 8%. Please read on for more details.
You will probably notice NEO People when double-clicking to run the file. The publisher name shows up as the "Verified publisher" in the UAC dialog as the screenshot shows:
You can view the additional details from the NEO People digital signature with the following steps:
- Open Windows Explorer and locate the NEO People file
- Right-click on the file and select Properties
- Click the Digital Signatures tab
- Click the View Certificate button
Here's a screenshot of a file signed by NEO People:
As you can see in the screenshot above, the Windows OS reports that "This digital signature is OK". This means that the file has been published by NEO People and that the file has not been tampered with.
If you click the View Certificate button shown in the screengrab above, you can view all the details of the certificate, such as when it was issued, who issued the certificate, how long it is valid, and so on. You can also see the address for NEO People, such as the street name, city and country.
Symantec Class 3 SHA256 Code Signing CA has issued the NEO People certificates. You can also see the details of the issuer by clicking the View Certificate button shown in the screengrab above.
