Nolo Publisher Information

Did you just find a file that has a digital signature from Nolo? If that's the case, please read on.

You will probably see Nolo when double-clicking to run the file. The publisher name is then displayed as the "Verified publisher" in the UAC dialog as the screenshot shows:

You can also view the Nolo certificate with the following procedure:

  1. Open up Windows Explorer and locate the Nolo file
  2. Right-click on the file and select Properties
  3. Click on the Digital Signatures tab
  4. Click the View Certificate button

Here is a screenshot of a file that has been digitally signed by Nolo:

As you can see in the screenshot above, Windows reports that "This digital signature is OK". This means that the file has been published by Nolo and that no one has tampered with the file.

If you click the View Certificate button shown in the screengrab above, you can see all the details of the certificate, such as when it was issued, who issued the certificate, how long it is valid, etc. You can also examine the address for Nolo, such as the street name, city and country.

VeriSign Class 3 Code Signing 2010 CA and VeriSign Class 3 Code Signing 2009-2 CA has issued the Nolo certificates. You can also see the details of the issuer by clicking the View Certificate button shown in the screenshot above.
