Serial Protocol - 55% Detection Rate *

Did you just stumble upon a download or a file on your computer that is digitally signed by Serial Protocol? Some of the security products refers to the detected files as Adware.BrowseFox.BU and Gen:Variant.Adware.Browsefox.14. The detection rate for the Serial Protocol files collected here is 55%. You will typically notice Serial Protocol when double-clicking to run the file. The publisher name is displayed as the "Verified publisher" in the UAC dialog as the screengrab shows:

You can view the digital signature details for Serial Protocol with the following procedure:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and locate the Serial Protocol file
  2. Right-click on the file and select Properties
  3. Click the Digital Signatures tab
  4. Click the View Certificate button

As you can see in the screengrab above, Windows states that "This digital signature is OK". This implies that the file has been published by Serial Protocol and that the file has not been tampered with.

If you click the View Certificate button shown in the screenshot above, you can examine all the details of the certificate, such as when it was issued, who issued the certificate, how long it is valid, etc. You can also examine the address for Serial Protocol, such as the street name, city and country.
