Web Bar Media - 4% Detection Rate *

Did you just find a download or a file on your computer that has a digital signature from Web Bar Media? Some of the security products refers to the detected files as PUP/WebBarMedia and a variant of MSIL/WebBar.A potentially unwanted. The detection rate for the Web Bar Media files collected here is 4%. You will probably see Web Bar Media when running the file. The publisher name shows up as the "Verified publisher" in the UAC dialog as the screencap shows:

You can view the digital signature details for Web Bar Media with the following steps:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and locate the Web Bar Media file
  2. Right-click the file and select Properties
  3. Click on the Digital Signatures tab
  4. Click the View Certificate button

As you can see in the screenshot above, the Windows OS states that "This digital signature is OK". This means that the file has been published by Web Bar Media and that the file has not been tampered with.

If you click the View Certificate button shown in the screenshot above, you can see all the details of the certificate, such as when it was issued, who issued the certificate, how long it is valid, etc. You can also examine the address for Web Bar Media, such as the street name, city and country.

Symantec Class 3 SHA256 Code Signing CA and DigiCert Assured ID Code Signing CA-1 has issued the Web Bar Media certificates. You can also view the details of the issuer by clicking the View Certificate button shown in the screengrab above.
