The AEI.exe is a function of Webroot security software.
If you download a lengthy software like Nero Media..160 some Megs, you may find a lengthy delay where Webroot is examining the file for Virus, Spyware or Malware. It hangs up the install until the necessary checks are completed and runs your processor around 50 to 51% for a long time. The Applications shows the Install as running and the Processes will show 50% CPU toward AIE.exe .

Roger, thanks for the info on this monster of a file. I bought Webroot to get away from Norton's CPU hog ccsVCHst.exe, only to find it replaced with the equally offensive and productivity killing (I use the computer to do 3-D solid modeling) AEI.exe file. I will definitely remove it. Thanks again.
