Running XP64 Pro SP2, after boot Firefox occasionally is blocked (Not Responding), IE does not start, when shutting an error message shows "End Program - avira.oe.systray.exe. This program is not responding.", sometimes also imp.gui is not responding. Restarting may solve the issue, but it reappear sporadically. All my attempts to clean the registry, reinstall Firefox and Avira have been in vain. In the end I switched to Avast and have no more problem; in addition windows boots faster.
