I have had Spledid on my ASUS PC ever since I got my PC a year ago, and it doesn't seem to do any beneficial. Almost everytime I shut down my computer, my PC says colorUservice is preventing it from shutdown. So I have now uninstalled Splendid and expect colorUsevice to stop annoy me anymore when shutting down my computer. The computer seems faster now, but I'm not sure. I have not seen any downsides yet of having it uninstalled. I will report back here if I see any downsides of unistalling Splendid which contains colorUsevice.exe

@Jake - had same problem after upgrading to Windows 10. Copied msvcp100.dll from win\system32 to win\syswow64 and that solved missing .dll message but still getting colorUservice error.

I developed this problem when I loaded Windows 10 onto my ASUS notebook. I went to the ASUS site and contacted support via chat. They said that ColorUService allows you to adjust screen contrast. They gave me a link to a site where I could download a new copy/update. It seems to be OK now.

Great website I just found. Had same problem as others after upgrading to Windows 10 on ASUS laptop. I had two occasions of msvcp100.dll missing. One was caused by ASUS Splended that I uninstalled. The second was caused by Adobe Reader that I reinstalled. Both problems are now resolved.

Hi. When I was on Windows 8.1, I used to get a pop-up window everytime I shut down my system warning me that ColorUService was still running.
Now that I upgraded to Windows 10, I don't see this pop-up anymore, but I'm still not sure if I need to do something and what to do exactly.
Should I uninstall it from my PC ?
Will it cause problems if I do so ?

Here's some info on what the Splendid software does:

"ASUS Splendid allows you to easily adjust the display settings that provide a better and mild paper-like experience to reduce eye strain for long time reading or the Vivid mode provides a preset for enriching the color of the screen.

You can adjust the screen color temperature, hue, and saturation by personal preferences.

You will see four modes on the interface of ASUS Splendid, Normal, Theater, Vivid and Manual."
