Just found your page after using a utility from MS called Autoruns to locate possible malware infection on my laptop. I haven't yet decided what action to take but note that "Installer.exe" looks to be a strong contender for creating a problem.
My proxy settings are changed at startup (and perhaps other times, not yet certain) such that I am continually locked out (no internet in google) after having partially removed blatant and annoying search engine that kept being set to my default...
The install date for this file concurs with the original infection and so I think the "Installer.exe" may be the final piece of the the puzzle for me to remove.
Sorry for the lengthy post but maybe it will help someone else with a similar problem.
Summary...
My proxy settings a mysteriously reset at startup to "127.0.0.1" port "8118" regardless of what I put in or switch off. This file "Installer.exe" is suspect as being the culprit.
Kind regards, Gordon.
