The FreeFixer program seems to be a simpler extract of Windows Process Explorer which has shown app_updater.exe as 5/57 i.e. 5 of 57 anti malware products think it a threat on my machine. Not enough hits to be a worry I guess.
Checked with "Total Defence","Malwarebytes" and "Spybot" which all tested OK.

My pc lags like crazy recently and welp I decided to delete it since it was the main cpu guzzler on here. It popped up an error saying it was still running so to finish the job i used task manager killed the process and deleted it fast as possible because most programs like that come back as fast as it takes to kill the process...it feels great to have a lagless pc again

DVDVideoSoft have some great tools but their "uninstall" leaves so much behind with unwanted startup commands and Windows Task Manager Services still "active".

I you wish to have a 'clean remove of everything that is DVDVideoSoft' then this should do it ...

I'm still using Windows 7: Once DVDVideoSoft Free Studio and all their other programs are uninstalled you will find you have to manually delete folders and contents in the following areas:
C: User AppData Roaming DVDVideoSoft
C:\Program Files (x86) (or Program Files) Common Files DVDVideoSoft
and maybe also
C:\Program Files (x86) (or Program Files) DVDVideoSoft.

You will find attempts to delete app_updater.exe (and other associated files) will be rejected "Digital Wave Update Service active". A real pain.

Following remain "active" ...
[00-PROCESS]**app_updater - C:\Program Files\Common Files\DVDVideoSoft\lib\app_updater.exe
[05-SERVICE]**DigitalWave.Update.Service - C:\Program Files\Common Files\DVDVideoSoft\lib\app_updater.exe

Run msconfig startup and untick vidnotifier.exe (This command is set by DVDVideoSoft to execute at StartUp. The executable is in the DVDVideoSoft lib in Common files).

Either restart computer and continue OR try stopping and removing the DigitalWave.Update.Service before you restart.

1. Right-click Command Prompt and Run as administrator
2. In the cmd: line stop the service with this script ...
sc stop "DigitalWave.Update.Service"
Enter Key
sc config "DigitalWave.Update.Service" start= disabled
Enter Key
Then in cmd: line delete this service with this script ...
sc delete "DigitalWave.Update.Service"
Enter Key

Now try again to delete all those DVDVideoSoft folders and files the DigitalWave.Update.Service prevented you from deleting earlier.
