avgsvcx.exe is used when I update my free AVG. avgmfapx.exe, avgwdsvca.exe avgui.exe (plus more)are also associated. I have disabled all "auto" updates with AVG, but this program still continues to attempt access to internet any time I get connected to internet. I have dial up & OLD computer, so I cannot afford to have this program attempting to hog my machine machine or it will freeze up. As of today, I have deleted AVG & replaced with Zone Alarm with free Anti virus & firewall. Zone Alarm supposedly has more user defined controls. I hope this works out better for me. Question for you Roger: Is it now OK to remove all of the AVG Pre fetch folders?
