Herdprotect's scanner detected this on my windows 8 system which means at least one of the 68 cloud based scanners they use picked it up. When I clicked 'fix', after the scan was complete, Herdprotect's removal tool informed me that it had not been able to successfully remove all threats because it could not delete 'ebay.platform.dll'.

I then located the file myself and upon electing to delete it from the context menu I was first told I needed 'administrators' privilage. I clicked on 'administrator' which, as the owner of the laptop, I am and once again I could not delete this file because I need 'SYSTEM' permission.

There are of course plenty of 'techy' sites which would get me in with SYSTEM privilages but the questions I have are:

1. "I have visited Ebay's site once. Does this result in the large number of Ebay related files/folders on my system"?

2. "Why can't Herdprotect remove this file"?

3. "How did it get to have the status it has, requiring someone with SYSTEM privilages to delete it, in the first place"?

I AM NOW suspicious of ebay.platform.dll and will definitely remove it when I am able to.
