The following information is quoted from KwanZy terms and conditions. It explains breifly what the Kwanzy software does:

"KwanZy Desktop Search turns your browser address bar (the place where you generally type in web site addresses) into an Internet search box. Installation of KwanZy Desktop overrides most pre-existing, error resolution applications (like Google Desktop or Yahoo Toolbar), so that when you input search terms or un-resolvable web site addresses, or keywords, you will be provided with responsive, sponsored and un-sponsored Internet search results via the KwanZy Search service or you may be directly navigated to a brand owner's site via one of our third party partners."

Hi
I've been directed to this page by a friend who is an IT expert. In my task manager it shows two entries of kwanzy and I am wondering if it is this which makes my internet behave strangely. I am currently using iexplore and may change to firefox but, in the meantime, the main problem is that my internet pages sometimes randomly close down. Once recently I was redirected to a kwanzy website which my Norton alerted me was dangerous. I have gone into the task manager and ended the processes which are listed as kwanzy -maybe this will help if I do it each time but I guess it is better to remove it altogether?
If I download freefixer, is it something which runs in the background all the time or is it something I just use when I have a problem?
Thanks
best wishes

@Fiona: You can use FreeFixer to scan your computer when it has a problem (It does not run in the background). FreeFixer will list the processes that runs on your machine, browser plug-ins, drivers, etc. If you find some unwanted software in the scan result, you can tick the Delete checkbox and have it removed.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I tried downloading freefixer but immediately our Norton picked it up as a high risk, quarantined it and closed it down. Why is this? Norton doesn't pick up kwanzy but it won't allow your programme to deal with it?
best wishes
Fiona

@Fiona: How annoying. I think Norton have updated their definitions to no longer flag FreeFixer as a risk. Please check that you got the latest updates from Norton and try again.

Anyway, if you just want to uninstall Kwanzy, there should be an entry for it in the Add/Remove programs dialog.
