This Koobface variant is now being spread on Twitter in tweets saying "My Home Video". If you get infected by clicking one of these tweets, you will probably see two additional files named pp10.exe and sfx.sys:

I've infected my lab machine with these files and want to let you know that FreeFixer had no problem removing them:

A few days ago my malware honeypot - which is running the old and vulnerable Windows XP Service Pack 1 - caught ld12.exe installing in a drive-by download. So, Koobface is not only using Twitter and Facebook to get machines infected.

I found c:\windows\LD12.exe by looking for files with a creation date that matched the date of infection. I believe I got infected from viewing a porn video from mythumbnails.com. At first it was a fake alert type malware that plastered my windows wallpaper with warnings that I'm infected and I should buy their product. Spyware Doctor take care of the fake alert, but I still had commercials playing audio in the background and internet exployer opening random webpages on me (the process iexplore.exe was running).

I purchased and downloaded Prevx 3.0 and it took care of the problem.
