libass.dll is a subtitle renderer. It often comes with or runs with such applications and ffmpeg/show, Media Player Classic (MPC-HC) and VLC. Here is the discription on Google Archive:

libass is a portable subtitle renderer for the ASS/SSA (Advanced Substation Alpha/Substation Alpha) subtitle format. It is mostly compatible with VSFilter.

If your version of the .dll really is a virus then its trying to resemble or act like this service. In that case I would reinstall your video playback software and codecs.
