McciCMService.exe could be used for a search engine redirect.

I picked up a nasty redirect last weekend. Google, Yahoo, Bing would randomly select other sites than the search results link. Not always. Worse on Yahoo, than on Google. This was on MSIE v8.

The redirect would go to or through a site that the icon appeared as a light blue grayish twist - or curly q as I saw in some other forums. I also saw one of the same color that looked kind of like an iron cross but had 4 squared-off sides rather that the familar slanted ones. Its center was round and took up most of the icon's area. Some of the sites it took me to are listed below. (I'd put those in my restricted sites zone, until I realized this was not going to fix my problem.)

I believe it tried to add the Zwunzi search engine to Fire Fox as an add-on. I did not let it (at least Fire Fox is smart enough to ask!) It did not affect Chrome at all.

I found McciCMService.exe in memory, when looking at the Processes tab in Task Manager.

Most of the hits for McciCMService.exe say it is used by a provider and is legit unless it is not in the Program Files\Common Files\ folder. (For me it was in: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Motive). This file date was 9/23/2009. File size was 296k. There is a lot of ATT stuff in this folder, too. I did not get the folder date because I had renamed it while experimenting. So, no help for you on that.

I took it out of memory (stopped process tree) and the redirects stopped. I renamed the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Motive(DELETE).

After a few testings, and reboots, I did not have the redirect any more.

It is simple enough for you to try & if it does not work, don't rename the folder and continue using.

I downloaded a utility from AT&T, one that was supposed to diagnose network and Internet connection problems. Once this rather large file was downloaded (>20MB)I began the installation procedure. About halfway through I got a pop-up from my AVG antivirus saying that some mischief was being made, referencing AXB.EXE. So I stopped the installation.

Well, part of the program was installed, but of course it didn't show up under Change/Delete Programs, and no supplied uninstaller was evident. So I did what I have been told never to do, I found the Motive folder and deleted it. This does seem to have done the trick, but there are still some Registry entries that Ccleaner finds. I've let Ccleaner delete these registry values, but each time I boot up and run it, some still remain. The list grows smaller, however, so I have hope.
