I don't think I need this secd.exe, as I already run good firewalls. Besides, you don't mention but it takes up more than 20% of the CPU, so I'd like it gone. But my Control Panel doesn't list it. How do I remove it?

@Rory: secd.exe is part of Apple's iCloud software. I'm guessing secd.exe is responsible for syncing the iCloud keychain.

Is it correct that you are running Apple's iCloud on your machine?

If so, there could be some settings inside iCloud that allows your to disable the keychain. I have not verified this myself.

If you are not using Apple's icloud, you can uninstall. That should also stop secd.exe from running.

Did this help you solve the problem?

I use iCloud to store photos, but nothing else. I'll try an unpick secd.exe from within the settings (I'm no geek, I don't hold out a lot of hope!), or else move my photos to GoogleDrive or Dropbox or somewhere. Thanks.
