I have smart App on my computer and i had it be for as i had to reset my system do to junk from Microsoft but know it tries to keep dialing a number but i have DSL and it is hard to load pages and games while it is doing that . I got it from smart App web site as i all ways do but know it does not work the same on my windows 8 Dell computer. I have run all the scans and they say every thing is fine . is that the way it runs all the time ???.

@woman67: I'm not sure why smartapp.exe needs to connect to the internet. It's supposed to scan you hard drive for failures.

Could you please upload your copy of smartapp.exe to virustotal.com and I'll have a look at the scan result.
