Explorer was hanging and I had frequent pop-ups and no clue why. I used task manager and spotted this program running. I halted it, searched the file system for it and deleted it and now things seam to be better. Keep you fingers crossed.

Don't know much about computers, but a friend showed me how to use task manager; my computer sounded like an airplane about to take off, I knew something was making it work overtime. I checked task manager and sure enough wheresphere was running at like 90%. I tried to end process several times to no avail, so I went to control panel and uninstalled it. I believe it was added on to my computer in a bundle and am hoping things run more smoothly now that this "Thing" has been removed.

I kept on getting pop-ups and suspected I had some adware surreptitiously added when I used peer-to-peer software shortly before they started appearing. An error message suggested that "iexplore.exe" was trying to close the browser window in an unusual way and I now think that the wheresphere executable file was masking behind a name that most PC users trust. I removed wheresphere using FreeFixer and that has resolved the pop-up ads issue.
