How To Remove FindWide.com and FindWide Toolbar

Hello guys and gals! Just wanted to put up a short post before going back to programming. I found another bundled program called FindWide Toolbar yesterday and thought I should give you some removal instructions. FindWide.com and FindWide Toolbar is bundled with some software downloads. Here’s how it appeared in the installer where I found it:

If you got FindWide.com and the FindWide Toolbar on your machine, you will see it in the toolbar area on your browser and in the add-ons menu.

If you want to remove FindWide.com and the FindWide Toolbar, you can do so from the uninstall programs menu in the Windows Control Panel.

If that would fail, or if it did not completely remove FindWide, you can remove FindWide with the freeware tool FreeFixer. Just select the FindWide files and settings as shown in the screenshots below:

AllGenius Ads – Removal Instructions

Just a short post on a variant of the BrowseFox/AltBrowse adware. It’s called AllGenius. If you got AllGenius on your machine, you’ll see it in the add-ons menu in Internet Explorer and Firefox:

AllGenius is bundled with other software. Here’s one example how it appears in an installer for an unrelated program.

You probably want to remove the AllGenius adware, and you can do so from the Add/Remove programs dialog in the Windows Control Panel:

If the AllGenius installer fails, you can remove it with the freeware tool FreeFixer. Just select the AllGenius files for removal and click the Fix button:

Statscom – 16 % Detection Rate at VirusTotal

Hello, just a quick post on a publisher called Statscom. When I uploaded it to VirusTotal it came up with a 16% detection rate. DownloadAdmin is one of the detection names.

I decided to run the Statscom signed file, and it offered two other programs called FindWide Toolbar and AllGenius in the installer.

After running the installer Mozilla Firefox started to crash repeatedly 🙁

Ads by SpeedCheck – Removal Instructions

Getting ads labeled Ads by SpeedCheck or Brought by SpeedCheck? Then you got the SpeedCheck adware installed on your machine.

SpeedCheck is installed in your web browser. Here’s how it appears in Mozilla Firefox:

The detection rate among the anti-virus programs is very low. Only 2 of the 55 anti-virus scanners at VirusTotal detects the file.

The detection name for SpeedCheck is Revizer.b.

Since you probably want to remove the SpeedCheck ads, these are the files you should check if you want to remove it with FreeFixer:

How To Remove FastPlayer

Did you just find something called FastPlayer on your machine? You might want to scan your computer with an anti-malware program. Here’s the detection results for FastPlayer.exe:

You can remove FastPlayer with FreeFixer. Just select FastPlayer.exe, fastplayerupdaterservice.exe and fastChecker.exe for removal:

StormWatch and StormWatchApp.exe – 5% Detection Rate at VirusTotal

Found a new bundled programs called StormWatch today. The main file is called StormWatchApp.exe and it is detected by a few anti-virus programs:

When browsing the other web site that talks about StormWatch, the consensus appears to be that it shows ads, but I have not seen any. If you have this on your machine, Do you see some “StormWatch ads”?

Remove Klip Pal Ads

Just a quick post about the Klip Pal adware. Klip Pal is bundled with other software. I’ll show how to remove Klip Pal in this blog post. Here’s how it can appear in an installer:

As you can see, KlipPal inserts advertisements on web sites while you are browsing the web.

Klip Pal installs itself in Internet Explorer and Firefox:

Removing Klip Pal is a piece of cake with FreeFixer. Just select the Klip Pal files for removal and then click the Fix button and the ad problem will be solved.

Website Counselor – Adware Removal Instructions

Found a new adware called Website Counselor that is being bundled with other software downloads. Here’s how it appeared in the installer:

Website Counselor is installed as an add-on in Firefox. It will appears as Website Counselor 0.1 in the add-ons menu.

How do I know that this is adware? Well, the Website Counselor EULA clearly explains that it can show advertisements:

If you’d like to remove Website Counselor you can do so by removing it from the Firefox add-ons menu. You can also remove it with FreeFixer by checking the Website Counselor extension for removal:

Innovative Systems LLC – 9% Detection Rate at VirusTotal

Just a short note on a publisher called Innovative Systems LLC. When I uploaded the Innovative Systems LLC file to VirusTotal it had a 9% detection rate. Some of anti-virus scanners calls the file InstallCore. Symantec classifies the file as Trojan.Gen.2:

According to the certificate, Innovative Systems LLC is located in Ukraine.

Did you also find a file digitally signed by Innovative Systems LLC? What kind of download was it and where did you find it?

I’ll try to follow up on this one later, to see if the other anti-virus programs adds it to their detection.

PSK LOGEUM LLC – 4% Detection Rate at VirusTotal

Hello again, sorry for being slow on the posting lately. I blame it on the cold I caught last week. Anyway, just wanted to give you the heads up on a publisher called PSK LOGEUM LLC, that according to the embedded certificate appears to be located in Russia.

The reason I’m writing this blog post is that the PSK LOGEUM LLC file is detected by a few on the anti-virus programs. McAfee report it as BehavesLike.Win32.Dropper.ch and Qihoo reports it as Win32/Rootkit.Rootkig.7e5.

When I tested the PSK LOGEUM LLC file it installed an adware called BlockAndSurf.
